Jimmy Blackwood is a singer and evangelist with a rich heritage in Christian music.  His father, Dr. James Blackwood, was the last living member of the original Blackwood Brothers Quartet.  James went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2002. 

Jimmy has been singing since 1963 and has traveled with the Junior Blackwood Brothers (1963-1965), J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet (1965-1969), The Blackwood Brothers Quartet (1970-1986) and a in solo ministry for many years.  In 1998 The Gospel Music Association inducted The Blackwood Brothers Quartet, and J. D. Sumner &The Stamps Quartet into the GMA "Hall of Fame".  As a member of the Blackwood Brothers Quartet Jimmy has received 5 Grammy Awards, 5 Dove Awards and the 1979 Singing News Fan Award for "Favorite Second Tenor".

In March of 1984 Jimmy was healed of cancer and testimony was shared in the book "Deliverance In The Valley Of Death" written by Rev. Dan Betzer.  This testimony book is available from Jimmy Blackwood Ministries. He began an  inter-denominational ministry in 1986 and travels across the nation where he sings, shares his testimony, and preaches the gospel in an exciting evangelistic style. 

He as also been a guest on TBN, PTL, 700 Club and many other Christian television stations. Jimmy has appeared on the Bill Gaither "Homecoming Video Series" featuring the leading gospel singers in America and has made a number of missions trips overseas.  

The Blackwood Brothers Quartet was reorganized in 2005 and features Jimmy Blackwood - lead,  Wayne Little - tenor,  Randy Byrd - bass, Billy Blackwood - baritone and Mike Hammontree - pianist.
